The Website

One of the largest (and earliest) projects I tackled at Snyder was the website. When I was brought on board, the process of developing the website and content for it was already underway, but my hiring as Marketing Manager immediately began influencing this process. It was a collaborative effort between myself, Kerrie Diaz (Snyder Environmental Executive Vice President), Joe Carter (Snyder Environmental CEO), RFTB (the web developer), and included some re-used video elements from BuddyFX (a video company hired to make content before I was brought onboard).

Brand identity development and re-enforcement, copywriting, photography, video elements, and overall user experience were things I regularly gave direction on as we got closer and closer to the publishing date. The development of this website and the elements I influenced began to lay the groundwork for a fresh, clean, corporate brand identity and visual company language that I continued to implement in all materials during my time as Marketing Manager.

In July of 2021, the Snyder Environmental website won top rank in the Zweig Group 2021 Marketing Excellence Awards for the website category.

Video

Over the course of my Marketing Manager position at Snyder, I had opportunities to flex my video production expertise in various ways to not only boost brand awareness, but also to give our sales team ammunition and a flag to wave as they burst into the unknown battlefield that is…well….sales. Occasionally I would be asked to produce videos for the partner companies within EIS Holdings, LLC, as shown in the last video below.

About 85% of the video produced was produced by myself, entirely, with my own video production equipment. Occasionally we would pull in outside sources for help, such as Peter Bella at Twist Creative Studio (a colleague of mine), and voice-over actors from Fiverr. I sometimes had to resort to gathering appropriate stock footage to fill out the end product in a way that told the story we were trying to tell.

Pre-production planning included everywhere from storyboarding and scheduling, to sometimes just grabbing my gear and hitting the road to see what I could get.

On-location video shooting was often a challenge, running into strict regulations in not only a construction environment, but one that focused on the removal of hazardous materials. Due to those points, oftentimes the facilities we were working in did not want video being taken (understandably). Oftentimes, getting good content required travel to job sites 8+ hours away (company paid, thankfully).

Post-production efforts included editing video and audio, making custom animations and graphics, some late nights, and a lot of coffee. Sometimes some cursing.

Some of my favorite videos produced for Snyder are shown here, but these are just a few of many. Admittedly the best ones, though.

Photo

Photography was often done on-location and had the same challenges to overcome as previously mentioned in the “Video” section. Because of my strong emphasis on video, I sometimes would simply take screenshots from videos I had taken to use for photographic elements of the website, brochures, tradeshow materials, etc. Headshots for the “Meet the Team” page of the website were also taken and edited by yours truly, with the exception of a few of them being taken by Kerrie Diaz due to scheduling conflicts between myself and the team member.

Commercial buildings, malls, housing complexes, universities, hospitals, schools… Snyder covers a wide range of facility types that need any combination of their services. I was there when I could be, camera in hand, ready to capture the interesting locations our crews ended up.

Design

A big part of my position at Snyder was creating a consistent visual language across all brand materials through the use of the brand identity system I helped develop and proper design principles in document layout, advertisements (print and web), presentations, letterhead, Statements of Qualifications documents, bid documents, template creations, tradeshow materials (like banners, flyers, and brochures), business cards, and more.

If you’re talking to me in person someday, ask me about the EIS Holdigns, LLC map. I dare you.

Multiple accolades were granted to the company during my time producing these materials, including Arkansas Money & Politics Most Admired Companies two years in a row.
